This chapter will cover a number of service design initiatives carried out by the Futurelib programme at the University of Cambridge. There will be a focus on prototyping and testing services with users, including the methods employed and the key outputs and outcomes from the work.
Biography
David is User Research and Data Science Team Lead within the University of Cambridge’s Product and Service Design Division. Prior to his current role David worked for Cambridge’s University Libraries, where for around 6 years he contributed to user research and design initiatives, initially as a user researcher for the Futurelib programme and latterly leading on the Libraries’ user research and service design. Throughout his career David has developed expertise in qualitative research and analysis as part of the service design process and has a professional interest in research ethics. Jenny is Service Design Team Lead within the University of Cambridge’s Product and Service Design Division. Jenny started out her career as an architect and was involved in the research, evaluation and design of environments for those with Cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease. Her passion for uncovering behavioural patterns and user needs as part of a human-centred design process eventually led her into the field of User Experience Design. For the past 11 years she has been involved in all stages of product and service design projects in healthcare, IT, financial services, retail, publishing, environmental conservation and eventually education when she began working on the Futurelib programme at the University of Cambridge.
